* Scientific – NASA Home page, http://www.nasa.gov

2. The site itself has several functions the MAIN function would most likely be information based with a entertainment ethic to it. For example the NASA site has lots of interesting information, shuttle launches, History of NASA etc. This site would come under either Science or Education, I said Scientific mainly because its more scientific than educational. Even though it's a site that can EDUCATE you on NASA and its history, working of the shuttles etc it comes under the scientific field because Space flight is scientific.

The NASA site is quite interesting, entertaining information and amazing achievements are shown here. Also info on "Women in NASA" "Galieo project" "Aero Space technology" to name a few good links on the site.  Extract from Nasa.gov: "NASA is deeply committed spreading the unique knowledge that flows from its aeronautics and space research….".

3. a) layout- The layout is a simply formed layout with various graphics, there are no frames what so ever and the Navigation bar looks like they have just added a continuing picture to the wallpaper of the main page and added text boxes and graphs to the side to form the navigation bar. Also to point out that it is not a usual nav bar but at the top is some words about the site and further down are the linking commands (Links to other parts of the page). In the center part of the page is the usual updated weekly information which is a normal function on most sites.

Animation-  Well as far as animation's go there are none. None that are posed as graphics . There are graphics but just not the usual animation banners etc. you usually have, in its place are animation's RM (Real Media) of shuttle launches and such.

Text- the text is all over the place on the main page, but well fitted into the graphics I might add it evens out the page which gives it a good feel to the page. So its not to bulky or dark and quite smooth transitions, not hard on your eyes and easy to read.

b) Well to precisely tell you how many pages are on the site is quite impossible because it is linked to other pages which are and are not there own. Roughly I would say easy over 40 pages maybe 3 levels. I doubt there is more than 4 levels because the site is evened out and quite flat. Meaning you don't need to go through 4 or more pages to get to the page, article, picture and it goes straight too it instead of messing around. It is a big site and would be quite time consuming to make I bet that easily more than one person works on updating and keeping this page up to date.

c) Well with navigation surpassingly no site map! Which they should have seeing that is a big site. But has simple links highlighted in other colors too tell you it's a link, also it has a navigation bar.

Although it is lacking some things it is very user friendly easy to get around it. Unluckily a bad point if you notice it does not have a permanent nav bar and its only on the main page. To change that they should add a frame to the left side of the page and put the nav bar there so it appears on every page and that way its extremely easy and time saving in getting around.

d)On the main page there are seven graphic hot spot links:

*4 on the cool site links. Galieo, Kids names to mars, space flight and women in NASA.

*Search the NASA web (banner2.gif)

*NASA ball graphic (hotnasa.gif)

*email graphic (today2.gif)

e) 36-40 on the main page.

f)N/A the site does not sell products.
